In
Britt's Words:
"Yoga
with Britt," in truth, is not really about me.
It’s all about the Yoga.
Like countless others who have come before me, I feel
called to the practice. Through my practice, the teacher
in me has been inspired to come forth and share what
I know and how I know it. This has brought me to instructing
regular classes, teaching and speaking abroad, and
offering workshops, serial courses, and retreats.
But my real work is to heed the call to the practice.
And what happens after that is not really up to me.
People often ask me, "Have you always loved yoga?
Have you always been this flexible?" The answer
to both is a resounding "No."
But there is one thing that I have always known: Love
is all there is. That thread of Love is what I weave
into the traditions of yoga. It is yoga, or the union
between and among all creatures, religions, peoples,
cultures, and the Divine that is Love. It is this
Love that I experience when I practice yoga and when
I share yoga with others.
When I practice, I see, taste, experience, and share
more Love. It is that simple. My relationships are
purposeful, richer, juicier, and more graceful. So
is my body. When my practice is strong, my teaching
is intentional, elegant, and colorful. So is my life.
Life is my Yoga. Yoga is Love. Love is Divine. Divinity
is revealed through yoga.
My practice and teaching, of both yoga and ayurveda,
are rooted in classical hatha and in non-dualistic
Vedanta. Having been raised in America, I am inevitably
influenced by allopathy, Western science, and the
global challenges we face. These influences inspire
me to teach from a seat of integration, inclusion,
light, and strength. These principles guide my practice
and my teaching. I believe that what we do on the
mat translates into our life off the mat in the way
we respond to our talents, limitations, and life experiences.
The consciousness we cultivate on the mat is the consciousness
we carry with us into our lives.

“Britt’s
classes and retreats, time and again, deliver
exactly what I want when I need it most. She
has the uncanny ability to make you feel like
you are the only person in the room and clears
the way for you to, ’get what you came
for.’ After years of practicing with her—and
healing from cancer in the process—I’ve
come to realize that what she has been teaching
me all along is how to hear the voice inside
myself and trust that I am my own best teacher.“
--Cary G., Lake Oswego, Oregon
I
am grateful and blessed to have practiced with
Britt - she is a true inspiration, a devoted
teacher and friend. Her angelical candor touches
everyone she encounters - and she boundlessly
gives of herself. Her yoga instruction is exquisite,
masterful, healing... She is love, light, and
grace.
